Civil defense volunteers who were relieved of their duties as bus marshals in October 2023 will be deputed on pollution mitigation duties for four months as per the order of Delhi Lt. Governor VK Saxena, officials said on Thursday.
According to them, their employment period will start on November 1.
The lieutenant governor, who is also the chairman of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, has advised the city government and the chief minister to come up with a concrete plan, based on due process, for their future involvement after the four-month tenure, Raj Niwas said, the official said.
The program – to be prepared by the Delhi government to recruit civil defense volunteers on a regular basis – will include details of their deployment, budgetary provision, financial clearances, post-production and booking arrangements, he said.
