‘Yellowstone’ Star Kevin Costner in New Movie ‘Horizon’

Actor and director Kevin Costner says his new film “Horizon: An American Saga” is a tribute to “Yellowstone” fans.

The long-awaited return of “Yellowstone” is almost here.

In June, Paramount Network announced that the second part of season 5 would premiere on Sunday, November 10 at 8 p.m. ET. Internationally, the series will premiere on Paramount+ in Canada on November 10, in the UK on November 11, and in Latin America, Brazil and France at a later date.

The hit series tells the story of the Dutton family, who control the largest contiguous cattle farm in the United States. Kevin Costner played family patriarch John Dutton III before announcing in June that he would not return for the second half of the fifth season.

“Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds and hard-earned respect – the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – a growing city, an Indian reservation and America’s first national park,” reads the series synopsis.

Here’s what you need to know about the second part of Yellowstone’s fifth season, including a short trailer and how you can watch it.

Why did Kevin Costner leave Yellowstone?

“I just wanted to let you know that I will not be coming back,” Costner said in a video posted to his Instagram and social media pages the same day that Paramount Network announced the Nov. 10 premiere date for the final episodes of “Yellowstone.” .

In an interview the day after the viral video was released, Costner told USA TODAY that he was tired of holding out hope for the return of “Yellowstone” when asked about the series during his extended media tour promoting his Western series Horizon.

Media inquiries about John Dutton’s return were “an overwhelming question that came up in almost every interview,” Costner said.

“Just with all the questions I’ve been asked (about ‘Yellowstone’), the more I’ve thought about it… I just wanted to say that’s a starting point,” Costner said. “Maybe I didn’t anticipate what I was hoping for. I don’t want to keep saying, “Yes, I hope I can make it.” “It’s gotten to a place that I don’t think is realistic anymore.”

Costner said that in his return conversations with Paramount Studios and executive producer Taylor Sheridan, there was no specific action that the impromptu video might have triggered. He didn’t want to maintain optimism that wasn’t there.

“I just wanted to do it,” Costner said of shooting the video. “I’m not a machine trying to figure it out. But I’m not one to leave people high.”
