I’m one of those annoying people who *must* check Rotten Tomatoes before making a decision my next watch. It’s not a foolproof method, but it helps keep the lake separated elite TV shows of those that should go in the trash.
I recently came across a critically acclaimed TV show that is breaking streaming records left, right and center, and we don’t police it! Tulsa King season two launched on September 16 and has a cool 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Consider me sold.
The Sylvester Stallone-led show is an interesting twist on the mafia genre, focusing on the underdog rather than anyone in power. If you’ve never heard of the Paramount+ showit follows Stallone’s character Dwight Manfredi, who spent 25 years in prison out of loyalty to his mafia boss.
When he is released, he expects to be honored or at least thanked for his service, but he is confronted with a harsh reality. Instead of a warm welcome, Dwight is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he begins to build a new crew.

Action star Stallone has brought in huge viewership numbers for the streamer. Paramount Global revealed that the premiere episode was watched by 5.4 million households in its first week, with two million global views on its first day. You can’t argue about fandom! If so many people tune in after season one, that’s just what you do know the show is quality.
Stallone shared some updates on Instagram to celebrate the show’s win, and sneakily dropped the information that season three has been greenlit.
“I’m thrilled and so proud of our cast because our show was up 75 percent last year, which is unheard of, and season two got a 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes! It’s also the second most popular show in the world across all streaming services! Thank you very much and we are currently working on the third season,” he wrote.
“More than five million viewers in the first week! To say I am grateful is an understatement.”

So what makes Tulsa King *this* popular? Well, the man who came up with the concept of this show is none other than Taylor Sheridanpumping out hit after hit. I honestly don’t know where he finds the time, but hey, I’m not complaining.
Sheridan is best known for his creations Yellowstone along with prequels 1883 And 1923. He is also the one responsible Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown and the coming oil drama Husbandman of Demi Moore.
Then you have Sly Stallone. Although he’s known as a brash action star who had his heyday in the ’80s, he’s proven to be a strong creative force over the past four decades. Stallone wrote the script for it Rocky in just three days, and was nominated for both Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars. He knows what works for the screen!
Interestingly enough, Sheridan wrote the original pilot before handing the reins to showrunner and writer Terence Winterwho says he trusts Stallone’s instincts.
“With him you don’t just get an actor, you get a writer, a producer, a director, an editor, everything. He is incredibly detailed and really invested in the show and the character,” Winter shared TV guide.
“What I like about him is that he is not the kind of actor who always tries to protect himself and look good. He doesn’t mind being the butt of the joke, or being self-deprecating, or making Dwight make bad decisions.”
If you’re looking for your next binge-worthy show full of action, drama, and comedy, this show is just for you. It is described as a cross between Yellowstone And The sopranoswhich seems about right to me!
The first eight episodes of Tulsa King season two are now available to stream, only on Paramount+. Two more episodes will be released weekly on Mondays, with the finale premiering on November 18.
