Early voting records broken in Walton County, election workers prepare for Tuesday

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Walton County elections staff prepared Monday for the 2024 general election.

Walton County Supervisor of Elections Ryan Messer said before the big day that it was a great election season in the county, with more people voting early than ever before.

“We broke every record, I think, in terms of early voting and turnout, so we’re really excited about that,” Messer said.

It’s been a busy few weeks for Walton County residents packing the ballot boxes for early voting. Messer said the poll workers have been working hard to make sure everything goes smoothly.

He said integrity and security are their top priorities.

“I want to congratulate my staff and the poll workers. They are doing an excellent job,” Messer said. “We train a lot before the elections and train on-the-job. When things happen, we learn from our experiences. Florida pretty much sets the standard for election security and we adopt that. We are very happy with that and are proud of it.”

Since early voting ended, Messer said he and his team are ready for Tuesday.
