Gov. Kathy Hochul on Saturday called New Yorkers who vote for Republican House candidates “anti-American” and “anti-women” — a slur that made waves in the Empire State and beyond.
“If you vote for these Republicans in New York, you are voting for someone who supports Donald Trump and you are anti-women, you are anti-abortion, and basically you are anti-American,” Hochul continued MSNBC.
“You have just destroyed American values and what our country is all about over and over again.”

The Democratic Party governor spouted her inflammatory comments less than a week after Democratic President Biden Donald Trump’s supporters have been fired as ‘waste’.
Hochul too previously divisive Republican New York Police in 2022, telling them to “just jump on a bus and go to Florida where you belong. OK? Get out of town. Because you don’t represent our values.”
Republicans immediately criticized the governor for her latest mocking comments — and even Democratic strategists said demonizing a large swath of voters as anti-American did not benefit their candidates.
“This is about as useful as a severe migraine. It is never a good thing to identify a large portion of voters as un-American,” said the New York ex-Democrat Representative Max Rosehelping Democrats in House races.
“Kathy Hochul does not represent a majority of Democrats anywhere,” said Rose, who served one term representing Staten Island and parts of southern Brooklyn.

Republican Party Chairman Ed Cox said angrily: “She is smearing at least half of American voters and all Trump voters.”
Rep. Mike Lawler (R-Hudson Valley) told The Post: “Governor Hochul has once again disgraced himself and the state of New York by calling the supporters of some of the most bipartisan members of Congress ‘anti-American.’
“It’s shameful and wrong and shows exactly how much of a partisan hack Kathy Hochul really is. She must be voted out of office in November 2026, but only after Republicans control the House of Representatives thanks to our Republican delegation in New York.”

He noted that his Democratic opponent, former Rep. Mondaire Jones did not appear with Hochul on Saturday while she was in the 17th House District in the Hudson Valley.
Upstate Rep. Elise Stefanik, chair of the Republican Conference of the House of Representatives, called Hochul the “worst governor in America” after seeing the clip.
And Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar said he was “surprised” by a scathing rebuke from the governor.
“It shows why she’s so unpopular,” Kassar said. “Her statement is stupid.”
Republicans called the statement so insulting that it appears Hochul is looking for a job in a Kamala Harris administration if the vice president wins, because it certainly isn’t a plus for a 2026 re-election.
A Siena College poll released last month found that only 36% of New Yorkers gave Hochul a favorable rating, while 51% rated her unfavorably.

Ten years ago, former Governor Andrew Cuomo said captured anti-aircraft guns because he says conservatives have “no place” in New York.
“Who are they? Right to life, pro-assault weapons, anti-gay – if that’s who they are, they have no place in New York State because that’s not who New Yorkers are,” Cuomo said in 2014.
Hochul’s camp had no immediate comment on the criticism.
