Young Thug’s Attorney Slams Fulton County District Attorney’s Office: “In Love With RICO”

Young Thug’s lawyers are speaking out after the rapper was issued after taking a plea deal on Thursday (October 31).

Thugger accepted a blind plea deal after talks with prosecutors fell through. His attorney Brian Steele declined to release specific details of their conversations but said the negotiations failed “completely” and “terribly.” He revealed that Thug ultimately accepted the blind plea because “Jeffrey just wanted to go home.”

He called the situation “intolerable” and explained that “Hopefully, in our collective opinion, Jeffrey would not have been found guilty of everything.”

Steele, who was temporarily jailed for contempt of court during the lengthy trial, also blasted the state for “knowing lies” and withholding evidence.

Thug’s other attorney, Keith Adams, continued. He invoked “state dishonesty” and accused the Fulton County district attorney of abusing the RICO statute.

“Jeffrey Williams had no intention of saying things that they wrote for him, that they wanted him to say; that was their theory, even though it wasn’t true,” Adams said.

He suggested that Fulton County prosecutors “get inventive” when they have no evidence on suspects and “tie them up in RICO” to get a conviction.

“For some strange reason,” Adams continued, “the Fulton County District Attorney’s office seems to be in love with RICO and my honest opinion is that they are in love with it because it makes it easier for them to to condemn people because otherwise I could not condemn them.”

Young Thug’s father calls the Fulton County District Attorney’s office “the poison” in our system

Young Thug’s father, Jeffrey Williams Sr., also condemned the state, calling the district attorney’s office “the poison that is in our system.” He spoke to the press after the hearing and shared his joy at Thug’s release, adding, “I still wanted to fight, but that’s his decision.”

Judge Whitaker convicted Young Thug to 40 years, with the first five years in prison commuted to time served. He also faces 15 years of probation and thousands of dollars in fines.

If Thug completes his probation, 20 years of backstabbing will be converted to time served.
