SAN ANTONIO – Suzanne Clark Simpson‘s name and face have been everywhere. Despite the attention to her case and a charge of murdering her husbandthe police were unable to find her.
Olmos Park police said the real estate agent and mother of four was last seen on Oct. 6 at The Argyle in Alamo Heights.
“A case like this really gets solved because someone saw something,” he says Christopher Combsthe former special agent in charge of FBI San Antonio.
Combs, who Retired 2022 has investigated several missing persons cases after 26 years with the agency.
Combs said investigators must sift through a trove of evidence, including surveillance videos, phone logs and credit card statements.
The search for Suzanne Clark Simpson stretched across Bexar County.
The Olmos Park Police Department, Department of Public Safety and Texas Rangers – as well as San Antonio police cadets – have been called in to assist.
A San Antonio FBI spokeswoman said the agency has not been asked to assist in the search for Suzanne Simpson.
Combs described a situation in which the services of the FBI would be called upon in a missing persons investigation.
“That happens when specific technical assistance is needed or our lab has advanced capabilities that they may not have, to be honest,” Combs said. “The vast majority of missing persons cases that turn into murder cases involve someone who is related to the victim.”
On Thursday, Brad Simpson was charged in connection with the murder of his wife.
He is now being held in the Bexar County Jail on several charges with bonds totaling $5 million.
Olmos Park police and Simpson’s family have said Brad Simpson did not cooperate with the investigation.
“Well, it’s hard, but you want to talk to them,” Combs said. “And again, it’s through deal making. Small deals to get them talking.”
