Trump shifts the focus to transition after his political comeback

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (Gray Media) – Donald Trump has been elected president after what appears to have been a huge election night for Republicans. Trump is shifting his focus to his presidential transition for a second term. Early Wednesday morning, Donald Trump took the stage at the Palm Beach County Convention Center to announce victory in front of hundreds of supporters, in addition to friends, family and political allies.

The Republicans now have a clear mandate and will try to push through a conservative agenda. Trump promised prosperity, security and unity in his victory speech on Wednesday, but after a divisive campaign that saw consistently harsh rhetoric from the president-elect, questions remain about how realistic unity is.

“He is a great campaigner and he will fight you,” said former Sen. David Perdue (R-GA), a Trump surrogate. “At the same time, he is now also a second-term president. And I think when you look at anyone at that level, they talk about legacy. And that’s something like that. But I think I’ll tell you personally since the assassination attempts: I know this man, I know his heart. He’s changed a bit. I think this humiliated him.”

Some states still need to tabulate significant amounts of votes, and the election won’t be officially certified by Congress until Jan. 6. Until Inauguration Day, South Florida will be the center of the political universe for the next two and a half months as Trump prepares for a new term.
