DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – A Davenport man was charged after police say he entered a home armed with a knife and entered a bedroom where young children lived.

Eric Eagelston, 24, is charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony.

According to the arrest affidavit, a burglary was reported at 5:04 a.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of Dixwell Street in Davenport.

Officials said Eagelston entered a vacant house with a knife, went to an upstairs bedroom, opened a window and climbed the roof.

Police said Eagelston then jumped from the roof of that house onto the roof of an adjacent house that was occupied.

Eagleston then forced open a closed window while standing on the roof and climbed into the house, officials said. While still armed with the knife in hand, Eagelston entered a bedroom of the house occupied by young children.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 15. Bail was set at just $25,000 cash.
