Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘top target’ to replace Carvajal at Real Madrid

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold tops Real Madrid’s list of transfer targets to replace injured Dani Carvajal, according to reports Marca.

The Spain international suffered a serious knee injury in the dying moments of Real’s 2-0 win over Villarreal in early October and has undergone surgery, forcing him to spend an extended period on the sidelines.

Lucas Vazquez has replaced the 32-year-old, but according to the Spanish publication his performances have been disappointing, meaning they are prioritizing the signing of a new right-back.

Alexander-Arnold is out of contract at the end of the season and could leave if there is no breakthrough in negotiations to extend his contract at Anfield.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in recent months, and as time goes by, speculation that he will leave his boyhood club on a free transfer has intensified.

Liverpool find themselves in a difficult situation with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also having contracts expiring at the end of the current season, a situation that is making Reds fans extremely nervous.

Marca’s report (via Deliver news live) suggesting that Alexander-Arnold is now their main target will only add fuel to the fire that the West Derby player will say goodbye for a new adventure in Spain next June.
