Singer apologizes after messing up the national anthem during a live TV broadcast

(WKRC) – Loomis has apologized after a now-viral performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which included a botched note and swearing.

The Los Angeles-based R&B singer butchered a rendition of the national anthem during the Free & Equal Presidential Debate among three third-party presidential candidates on October 24. It aired on a C-SPAN broadcast.

Her voice broke and she stopped asking to start over. “I made it up, I made it up, can I please go back?” the singer asked.

But Loomis was told it was a live broadcast, so she continued. After the next line of the national anthem, she made a confession: “I got too nervous.”

After completing the song, Loomis shook her head and walked off stage.

Loomis took to social media days later to apologize.

“First of all, I would like to apologize to the political team Free and Equal for this accident, and from the bottom of my heart I wanted to apologize,” she said in a video. “And I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to ruin the anthem, and I just wanted to thank you for giving me a chance and believing in me. Please forgive me.”

Loomis said she had concerns about singing the national anthem live.

“I was always afraid I would fail, and then I did it, and the world saw it,” she said. “So I just wanted everyone out there to see that you can turn something negative into something positive.”

The caption of the post also read:

“I got there a little late and didn’t have a clear signal, which confused me when we went live! I know it wasn’t my best, and I’m really sorry if it didn’t hit. For my part, I take the full responsibility and ask that you do not use this incident to reflect on the artist I am and try to be

I am so grateful for the opportunity and all the love and support I have received. I consider this a lesson learned, and I can’t wait to come back even stronger!”

She also stopped to talk on camera about her future and defend her ability to sing. TMZ posted the clip.

That was a little over three months ago country singer Ingrid Andress had difficulty with her performance of the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby anthem.

The four-time Grammy Award nominee apologized: saying she was drunk at the time and start rehabilitation.
