Everything looked rosy in The Hawthorns garden on September 21 as Albion won 3-0 at Portsmouth, beating Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth.

However, despite falling two goals behind, losing by a goal to Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, losing at home to Middlesbrough, being held to a goalless draw at home to Milwall and then dealing another late blow in Oxford.

This is the third time Albion have failed to win four league games under Corberan.

In the previous two meetings, they had drawn at least three of the four matches.

However, the Spaniard insists they simply need to use their recent setbacks as an important education.

“You can learn something from every match,” he said. “Every opponent is different.

“The reasons why we didn’t win any of those games were completely different.

“Against Sheffield Wednesday we had a poor first half because we didn’t stop their press.

“Against Middlesbrough we didn’t take enough chances to find enough chances in the final third.

“We had a lot of the ball in the last game but we couldn’t find a way to break down their defensive structure.

“This game was more about hitting in the last third when we had opportunities in the box.”

He also pointed out Albion’s fundamental error in keeping possession on Saturday, when he missed a throw-in, losing possession to the home goalkeeper, and Oxford equalized moments later.

“What we can improve is game management,” he said.
