NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – An Algiers man charged with two counts of murder and attempted rape in 2021 will spend 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to lesser charges on Friday (October 18).
Sharod Williams, 39, avoided a trial scheduled for next week by accepting a plea deal approved by Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Judge Tracey Flemings-Davillier.
Williams pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter, possession of a firearm, obstruction of justice, assault with a firearm and simple robbery. Defense attorney Michael Kennedy negotiated a plea deal with Orleans Parish prosecutors and said his client regrets his crimes.

New Orleans police said on April 30, 2021, Williams fatally shot his 35-year-old girlfriend, Brianisha Caine, in their Verret Street home.
About two months later, police say Williams was interrupted as he attempted to rape a woman in a Central City apartment on June 15, 2021.
The next day, Williams fatally shot 45-year-old Terrance Johnson at 1300 France Street in the St. Louis neighborhood. Claude – admitted in court on Friday. Police said Johnson was found dead in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds.
